  • Culinary Literacy Center at Parkway Central Library 1901 Vine Street (between 19th and 20th Streets on the Parkway) Philadelphia, PA 19103-1189 (map)

Rose Levy Beranbaum's World Book Launch!

She rewrote the rules of American baking with a scale, a whisk, and relentless precision.

Join the Philadelphia Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International and the Culinary Literacy Center in the Skyline Terrace of the Free Library of Philadelphia to meet the woman who transformed American home baking through meticulous testing, science, and fearless innovation. In Ma Vie en Rose (My Sweet Life), Rose Levy Beranbaum shares her deeply personal journey from a sensitive, food-averse child in postwar New York to the pioneering author of The Cake Bible-the groundbreaking work that introduced standardized weights, ingredient science, and techniques like reverse creaming to generations of home bakers. Rose will be in conversation with Catie Gainor of Binding Agents Book Store. This event is sponsored by the Philadelphia Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International.
