Karen Ferries, a food and tabletop prop stylist, grew up in Belgium with a mother who elevated ordinary recipes into lasting memories. A reminiscence was a turkey sandwich on toasted raisin bread with melted Swiss cheese and Major Grey’s mango chutney. Her mom’s culinary skills ignited Karen’s interest in pursuing a career in food.

Following graduation from the former French Culinary Institute, she worked in the prestigious kitchen of chef Daniel Boulud’s flagship restaurant in New York City, Restaurant Daniel. From 2013-2021, Karen ran an upscale hors d’oeuvres catering company that specialized in beautiful food presentations called The Cocktail Party Chef. She was recognized as an up and coming “Fresh Face” by Bizbash.

Styling food, whether it is a blueberry pie or Thanksgiving turkey, and choosing complementary dishes from her curated collection of props appeals to her creativity whether it is for a photo shoot or just for fun at home! Karen lives in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
